In 1977 when Brian Marshall's son was born, he said “I don't care what his name is, as long as his
initials are RPM”. That was a sign of what was to come.
The first wrecker built by RPM Equipment Company, was a Holmes 1100 and mounted on a Chevrolet 3500
furnished by A.J. Foyt Chevrolet.
It was built under a southern oak tree on a farm in Houston, Texas. That was 1981. In the very
beginning, there wasn't even a shop - just a hoist hung from the branches of that old oak tree to
mount the beds on the chassis', with a few horses and a couple of cows in attendance.
A few years later, a small shop in Missouri City, Texas, came into being. And then a slightly larger
shop with an employee or two. And then three more shops evolved through the years in Houston.
Ultimately ending up with two locations: Wrecker Capitol came into being in 1999 and is located just
south of Austin in Buda, Texas, with 5,000 sq. ft., and the new location of RPM Equipment Company on
Chrisman Road in Houston, with 18 employees and 20,000 sq. ft. How things have changed.
Brian and his son, Ryan (RPM) first opened Wrecker Capitol in a little rented shop in Austin in
1999, then purchased the land and built at the current Buda location in 2003. In 2011 Brian
purchased the property on Chrisman Road in Houston, tripling the building space he once had.
As of 2012, RPM Equipment Company has been a stable and dedicated business force in the wrecker
industry for 31 years, and with the experience of Wrecker Capitol, between Brian and Ryan, there are
44 years of wrecker knowledge.
Because this is a family owned and operated venture, with extremely dedicated employees, and is
based upon high standards of business integrity, we work harder for our customers, and we value all
of you with great respect.
In 2010, RPM Jr. was born, so inevitably the business will be continuing well into the
future.
